Media Release: 30 November 2015

On 1 December 2015 (#GivingTuesday), Australian budgeting and cashflow forecasting software company, Calxa, pledges to donate $1million of software to not-for-profit organisations, having just hit the milestone of fulfilling its’ first $1million pledge in donations this week.

Calxa CEO Mick Devine declares “When we made our pledge four years ago, we didn’t realise how soon we would fulfil our target. Knowing that hundreds of organisations are making significant inroads in cutting the burden of reporting and achieving better governance is a great feeling.”

As part of the international day of giving known as #GivingTuesday, Calxa are pledging to donate a further $1million in software to NFP organisations, which represents the single biggest donation to date for #GivingTuesday Australia.

“It really makes a difference for us, and I know Calxa actually is helping to change the world for the better by donating the software to the many charities it goes to.”, says Alan ‘Junior’ Marlowe, Business Manager at Townsville’s contemporary arts centre Umbrella Studio.

#GivingTuesday Australia Team Leader, Mathan Allington, says “It is amazing to have a local #GivingTuesday partner step up with such a generous pledge of support to the NFP sector. This announcement is the single biggest ever for #GivingTuesday Australia, demonstrating amazing generosity within the Australian business sector, at the same time showcasing the possibilities of NFP and business sector partnerships. We look forward to seeing more partners follow Calxa’s lead this year, and on future #GivingTuesday’s.”

Calxa reached its first $1million target this week with their donation to Southern Shoalhaven Meals on Wheels, a small community organisation that delivers meals and provides social services to the frail and elderly on the NSW south coast. Services co-ordinator, Vicki Love, says, “As a small not-for-profit we welcome any assistance we can get and I really think that Calxa will make a difference to our treasurer and make it easier to meet our reporting needs.”

With less resources available than their larger counter parts, grassroots organisations reap the productivity gains from using Calxa. “These smaller organisations have the same mandatory requirements as their larger counterparts”, says Mr Devine, “and this donated software removes the burden of meeting these requirements from their operations.”

The software donation program is managed by Connecting Up in Australia and TechSoup in New Zealand who collectively have helped over 20,000 NFP’s getting their technology updated and optimised with the latest resources available to them. Connecting Up Executive Manager, Business and Partners, Josh Goodwin says “Calxa has been instrumental in its’ help for the NFP sector. Having hit $1million of donated product in four years is no small feat.”
